Right in Our Own Eyes

I'm struggling to find the logic behind these three facts I discovered over the course of a year or more while reading the news. And the only logic I can find is that we simply want to do what is right in our own eyes.

  1. It's sometimes a crime to kill an unborn child and sometimes not.
  2. Doctors can assist in the taking of your own life, but the government shouldn't use drugs to end the life of one judged to death for taking life.
  3. We are killing babies for their brains and growing tiny human brains in a lab.

In Judges 17, a man named Micah "... made an ephod and household idols, and installed one of his sons to be his priest. In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did whatever he wanted" (Judges 17:5-6).

We have plenty of kings these days, most of whom are just fine with all of us doing what is right in our own eyes.

We need a different King.

Someone who will not let us do whatever we think is best.

Someone who knows what is best and does it on our behalf.

We need King Jesus.

I'm holding on to Revelation 22:12-13, 20 when I read the news.

“Look! I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me to repay each person according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End."

"He who testifies about these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.”

"Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!"
